Leo, un homme riche et désenchanté, revient vivre dans sa demeure de Londonienne. Pour tromper son ennui, il passe ses journées penché à sa fenêtre, à observer les oiseaux à la longue-vue. Bientôt son attention dérive vers les habitants du quartier noir qu'il voit aussi de sa fenêtre.
